Dr John Butler is an actor and physical theatre performer. He trained at Rusden State College and worked as an actor/designer in Theatre in Education, Community Theatre and in small to medium theatre companies. He trained in acrobatics with the Nanjing Acrobats of China in the Great Leap Forward.
John is a teacher/director and was awarded the The Best Circus Production for Strangers in the Light, for the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2008. He was also awarded the most Outstanding Teacher of the Year in the 2006 Victorian Training Awards by the Victorian TAFE Association.
He is researcher on Theatre For Young People in Victoria. John helped to create the National Institute of Circus Arts while coordinating the Diploma of Theatre Arts Course at Swinburne Universities Prahran.
John is a stilt walker, unicyclist, juggler and balloon sculpture and enjoys character acting.
